Cobbles Week Continues: Ghent Wevelgem Discussion Thread (could be a spoiler)

So guys, who is your man? Below is the strart list from Velonews.com. Their money is on Cavendish. Hoshovd is on the list but will Cervelo just let Haussler ride for himself? No Chavanel on the Quickstep Blue Train…are they saving him for Roubaix? What about Pozatto?

Put your discussion here

I have to think that Cav will win based on his early season form. I suspect Cervelo will have at least one guy on the podium!

Ken

Wouter Weylandt from Quick Step. They will control the race again, and have a few men in a break that gets away. Boonen will be a marked man, as wil Cav. Columbia will miss the break. Garmin will be active again, but miss out on the main push to the end.

Well like I said, Dom Rollin is the one I’m watching for both today and Sunday, though it might be wishful thinking he’ll be my pick. He’s not on the start list for today, but he’s racing. And remember, he’s Canadian! Though I try not to hold it against him.

Dom Rollin will do something impressive today or Sunday or both. Thor is going to be pissed about the crash and super motivated, and Haussler …, well he’s Haussler. Test Team will take a win by Sunday evening.

With 80k to go there’s a split with about 30 riders (due to crosswinds), there are 5 or 6 CTT riders in it (including Rollin). This looks like the winning move.

Michael,

Please don’t curse us - it’s been a long dry spell for Canadian men Pro cyclists. I can’t remember the last time that a Canadian man won something of significance at this level. I think we would have to go back to the days of Steida/Bauer/Walton to find a win.

Fortunately our bikes have done better!!

The group split after the Kemmelberg–2 in the lead, 13 chasing-Dom’s in there! If he makes it over the Kemmelberg again… :^)

Thanks for the update. You should have seen them control the front on the Kwaremont!

Dom was dropped on the climb, another CTT rider made it, not sure who.

Just got out of a meeting…work getting in the way of being a sports fan (I guess technically that is a good thing…actually being able to work in today’s economy).

Dev

anyone else see in the tour of flanders that Fabian Cancellara has now become far too strong?

He snapped his chain up a steep climb!

Well, I was way off. Given the way Hincapie shut down any jumps to catch Boasson Hagen, he played the perfect team role, but he must have been pissed.

Next time he should attack or at least be able to follow the move of his team mate then. It wasn’t like Hagen escaped in a tactical move, he went on the Kemmelberg.

Doesn’t sound too pissed.

ghincapie305 average Watts today for 5 hours. Epic day. Legs were good though. Very happy my roomate won.

Holly cow! 305 watts for 5 hours is insane. Makes me feel a little weak with my 268 FTP. Damn!

Please note that there is no FTP column in the sportstats results sheet for IMLP :-)…agreed, I can barely do that for a few minutes.

That’s too bad, because daily TSS, weight, hours trained and FTP columns would be greatly appreciated. Tubular or clincher would be nice also. hehe

If they give out Kona slots by hours trained, I should qualify every year. If they give them out by FTP, I’ll be off the back. I might score high on daily TSS…I can go either way WRT clinchers or tubulars

Alright, where is the smart money going to be placed for Sunday’s sprint in the Roubaix velodrome? Or will there be a sprint? Love to see Cav sprinting in there!

I’ve never seen the end of PR. How does a Peleton get into a velodrome without crashing? I want to see Haussler or Cancellara win, but as always if Cav can see the finish line with a group he’ll likely take it.
