Cobb rear mount hydration

I got this as a gift and bolted it up. It has some large threaded holes on top as well as between where the cages will go. Any idea what these are for?

Probably co2 carrier? Any hints on their website? Just tried the elite one which is kinda same (distance from saddle and size) but don’t think I’ll use it. It’s a huge rack.

+2, I would try screwing in co2 cartridges
.

They are for CO2.

I figured it could be used for 1 or 2 bottles. But co2 would work.

For me it was a perfect bottle launcher, with bottles perfectly upright. I only use mine for training… as I only need 2 bottles for racing anyway.

I have the Cobb rear mount setup and like it. But I haven’t had a bottle launch on me yet (only about 1,000 miles so far). \

To the OP – the small holes are for bottle cages, the large holes are for CO2 cartridges.

thanks, what cages are you using?

I originally had some ultralight Zipp carbon bottle cages. But then I decided to get some cheaper plastic cages in anticipation of drilling holes to run elastic cords through them (per Rappstar’s recommendation) to make launching bottles almost impossible:

So I bought these Arundel cages from Trisports (less than $12):

But I haven’t been launching bottles so I haven’t felt a need to modify these cages.

would you guys take a photo of your set up?

it looks like the bottles would face towards the seat not away - is that by design?
