Coach recommendation?

i’m looking for a coach, any suggestions? i live in atlanta but he/she doesn’t have to be local.

Kevin Purcell, aka KP, coachkp.com

good, smart, experienced, cool and approachable
.

I’d have to second the recommendation for KP.

After seeing, first hand, his commitment to staying in daily contact with his athletes while he was riding his a$$ off every day at Epic, if I was to go the coaching route, he (or Gordo) would be my first port of call.

100% committed to the sport and every one of his athletes and a super-nice guy to boot.

Matt Russ - dynamicfitness@mindspring.com - not my coach but my brother speaks highly of him (my brother lives in Buckhead)
.

Paulo (Paulo Sousa) - http://www.pstriathlon.com/

Rappstar (Jordan Rapp) - http://www.rappstar.com/

Czone (Joel Filliol) - http://www.competitionzone.com/

Olaf Sabatschus - http://www.olafsabatschus.de/
.

Rappstar’s a coach now? Damn - I didn’t know that!

Hey Rapp - how long have you been coaching?

Yep he has been coaching for awhile now … he is really good … I am trying to talk him into coaching me

That’s cool. He’s a knowlegable guy and will make for a great coach I’m sure. Just don’t listen to his race day hairstyle advice…

My vote goes for Mike Plumb, contact info below. I have been working with him for over a year now and have seen tremendous improvement in my bike and run performance. He is very easy to work with and will tailor your workouts to your life. He has many clients all over the country and is well connected within the Tri Community.

The world’s best coaches are Portuguese.

I’ve been using Francois Modave (AKA FM 2.0) since July. I contacted him after my accident on May 11 (concussion, sternal and rub fractures, pneumothorax and 3rd degree shoulder separation). I couldn’t ride on the road until July, couldn’t run until late JUne and couldn’t swim at all until late JUne and nothing but some drills until July.) After an achilles tear in July '04 I had only just returned to racing this last spring and that was only a sprint and a 1k,40k,8k in april.

He whipped my old bod (55) into enough shape to finish first in AG at Big Kahuna (HIM) (Sep 10) and at a local Oly (Sep 30) and I finished 2nd in my AG at SOMA (HIM) (Oct 29) in 4:56:43. (I actually lost in transition–my bad.)

Next up, IMAZ next April.

I don’t think Desert Dude is Portuguese! : )
Brian coached me to HUGE PR’s at IM Az and Soma 1/2.

You may not want to leave Scott Molina off that list, my friend.

He coaches me amongst others. Although I am probably bottom of the list in priority. My training program produces results I am happy with and our communication is always quick , to the point and accurate. He makes training enjoyable , educational and leaves you with a feeling of satisfaction for the PROCESS you have gone through. A truly rewarding experience.

I may add , that I also work 50-60 hour weeks.

In Atlanta area, Bruce Erskine.

Otherwise, Mike Plumb.

ive been using kurt perham (trukweaz) for a few months and am extremely pleased. definitely worth looking in to. his workouts are totally different every week so the boredom factor isnt an issue and everything has a reason so you know youre constantly moving in a particular direction.

Reading below seems to be fuzzy if any of the picks are online driven ?

another vote for mike plumb. i have been with him for over 3 years and am very satisfied.

There is a great list of coaches in this thread, but the most important thing is that your philosophy matches the coach’s philosophy (or vice versa) and he/she understands your goals and limitations (job, family, injuries, etc) and believes in you… communication is key… I recommend you get in touch with a few and get a feeling which one clicks with you and your personality.
