CNN - "Royal Canadian Mountain Police"?

Did I hear that correct? Didn’t catch the name of the woman who said it, but she said it three times. I really hope I heard wrong.

I am not watching but it’s likely that you heard correctly. CNN is full of idiots, you shouldn’t expect them to get something like this right.

I have been watching CBC mostly (against my better judgement), but flipped to CNN just to get an international perspective. When I first heard “Mountain” I thought it might just have been an accent. After several repetitions, it seemed to be an intentional pronunciation.

I heard the same on CNN and am waiting for Fox to top it.

Too bad she didn’t just say “Mounties”

Tomato, tomahto. Just take comfort in the fact that in times of trouble, American Naval corpse men have your back.

I’d feel better if the US Navy sent some living sailors to help.

You do know the origin of that satire?

Fail. Looks like Irish Garda to me.

This would be correct at least, although a little casual.

Just go with RCMP.

No. Please tell me.

If she said it three times then the show’s producer (talking to her in her earpiece) got it wrong, as well.

And whomever is running the telepromter

Articulation is a lost art. They probably come out sounding the same for most people.

Depends, was it Ashleigh Banfield? She should know better considering she is Canadian…
