You still have to be an ITU elite or top ‘ager’ to win this local triathlon which started in 1983.

Well the guy who won has raced the Oeania ITU triathlon as an elite. The 2nd guy has raced ITU juniors and the winning woman has raced ITU elite. So it is pretty hard to even win a fun triathlon in NZ these days.
