Close to a Burnout…

I ran my first full IM last year and since have run 2- ½ IM and a bunch of sprint and Olympic dist. I’m training for IM Wisconsin in sept. and seem to be loosing that determination I felt when I first started.

Any suggestions, stories of inspiration, death threats if I don’t work out….???

-thanks

Take a week off - resting and eating well. During this week watch ironman DVDs and read inspirational books.

I second the last opinion. Take some time off. There is still time before the race. Better to take some now than later. Do the things that you haven’t had time to do because of training. Get things back in order, realize what you have to do to kick ass in the race, and then get back to training more seriously. Maybe you just need to have some easy training days with no plans. Whatever works for you to clear your mind.

Try volunteering or reading Becoming an Ironman. Shopping’s not bad either:)

  1. volunteer at a local tri

  2. join a road club and do road rides

I have no inspirational stories, when I felt this way about MTB racing in 2001, I gave it up for duathlon, when I got a running injury in 2002 I gave up duathlon for road racing/TT … now I miss multisport and MTB racing, which I am getting back into

sometimes you have to leave it to love it
