Just getting into cross and I was using an old set of 747 clipless pedals. Twice they have fouled with mud and the result was a tip over fall because the pedal wouldn’t disengage. Once, I executed a perfect running dismount except the pedal stuck–no fall because I was able to brake but I looked really silly balanced on my R leg on the left side of the bike with the left pedal still engaged. What’s the best mudshedding non-stick pedal or am I better off with platform pedals and trail runners?
Crank Brothers eggbeaters

Best mud shedding pedal on the market is the Crank Bros egg beater. The candy’s are almost as good if you want to have a bit of surface area. The times are also pretty good. Shimano’s peds have never been the best as shedding mud.
Time ATACs are great. Eggbeaters are good also, but I am not too keen on the power transfer…spindle is too small for me, I prefer a bit more platform.
The newest Shimano pedals are just fine, Vastly improved mud shedding if you have the right shoes/mod your shoes correctly.
The Eggbeaters are great if you can afford to replace them or get them for free (I have killed 12 sets so far.)
Times are probably the best all around pedal if the lateral float doesn’t mess you up.
