I saw a bumpsticker yesterday that I thought some of you’d get a kick out of, and others, well won’t.

(Against my better judgment) For those of you who need this explained (really, none of you):
Exhibit A: President William Jefferson Clinton lied about getting a hummer in the Oval Office with an intern. The American public is outraged. His family is embarrassed and hurt. Congress devotes itself practically full-time to impeachment hearings.
Exhibit B: President George W. Bush lies to Congress, the U.N. and the American people about the reasons why we must immediately send hundreds of thousands of troops half-way around the world to invade Iraq (Saddam was responsible for 9/11 and has WMD’s that can reach us in under an hour). 1,500 Americans and tens of thousands of Iraqi dead (so far) at a cost of something like $300 billion at last count (i.e., about $1,000 for every American).
What’s wrong with this picture? It’s like I’m living in a fucking dream. Seems like people only get riled up if there is sex involved. Wake up, folks.

Clinton got impeached. Bush didn’t.

Brian do you even know what impeached means? He was tried by a Republican Congress and acquitted of all charges brought against him. An impeachment is nothing more than a trial, Clinton was tried and found not guilty.

I’m sorry…he was impeached and had an extramarital affair. Lied about it to the American people and his legacy will be marred by this very fact.

Bush lied his way into Killing literally thousands of people. Even if you only count americans as people (which you probably do) we still have nearly 2000 dead. He’s killed more young men than John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dalmer combined.

Now, the distinction that one clinton had to endure impeachment proceedings, and bush did not?
That is really more an indication of partisan politics and who controls votes.
I’m appalled that you are appalled by extramarital sex, but not murder.
Neither Bush nor Clinton are people I’d call honest. However I can relate to a guy not wanting to get busted for getting his knob gobbled. I can’t relate to lying in order to start a multinational war, thereby killing thousands (including children) and enriching my friends and campaign contributors with war and reconstruction contracts.
