Clincher Jet 90, Valve Extender, Removable or not?

I searched through the archives a little bit but am still unclear. I am putting these on a Hed Jet 90 which is a clincher and has a 90mm deep rim.

  1. If I want to just use a tube with a huge valve, could I use an 80mm Vittoria tube?

  2. Which valve extenders fit over the current valve?

  3. Which tubes come with a removable valve core? and which valve extenders would complement them?

Thanks

  1. the jet 90 rim is about 92 mm deep. An 80mm Vittoria tube would not be long enough unless you used a short extender.

  2. There is a 75 mm HED valve extender that I got at Tri-zone for my Jet 90. It’s here… http://www.tri-zone.com/Details.html?cat=95&item=HDEXT

  3. Conti tubes come with a removable core. In which case you could use Tufo valve extenders.

Michelins and Vittorias have removable cores. The Vittoria extenders work well of you want that type. I have also used the Topeak ones that go over the top of the valve and I like those also.

Thanks for this reply, exactly what I was looking for. I wasn’t sure about the Vittorias because I had heard they worked with 808s which have an 82mm depth.

Not all conti-tubes come with removable cores. The nicer race ones do. Then the tufo valve extenders are really nice, and you can stack them (two 40mm would be plenty) to get enough distance. Then you’ll be able to use the tube as normal and won’t have the leave the valve unscrewed within the “over” type valve extenders.
