Sometimes when I am climbing out of the saddle there is hiccup or a little jerk in my pedaling. How I pedal more smoothly out of the saddle? Drills?I know one legged pedaling and pulling on the upstroke. Anything i’m missing?
road bike or tri bike? If on super steep sections (say, 12% grade or more) and you are either struggling or trying to power up, let the bike dance beneath you. Push down smoothly as soon as you come over the top of the pedal stroke, pull up with the opposite leg to keep the stroke smooth and push down a little with the opposite hand (on the hoods or pursuits). The tendency is to just mash down after 3 O’clock or so with your body weight since that is easiest initially, but then the ‘hiccup’ ensues. Keep your weight centered on the bike, most are way too far forward when climbing (esp on a tri bike).
