Clif bar vs power bar vs gu on imcda bike

so far clif bars work for me on training centuries. makes the throat itch a little …should i try power bars or gus for imcda…still have time to experiment …tia

IMCDA is one hot mother. It was the race that made me realize that less calories is better than too many in the heat. I used Hammer Perpetuem and Cliff shots during the ride and it was too much to process while sweating buckets. Avoid missing any aid station water.

I’ve since switched to e-Gel and have been very satisfied. The extra sodium/potassium is nice and could pay off for you at CDA.

Clif Bars have more carbs (what you’re burning) and less protein. You ain’t power liftin’ here, you’re goin’ long. I wouldn’t use either, but I’d go Clif over either of the other two.

I’d choose Hammer SE or Perpetuem with Enduralytes and some Hammer Gel for flavor and a little boost.

Clif bars: food.

Powerbars: edible - maybe; food - not.

Go with what works best for you. I found out last week on a training century that Clif Bars don’t agree with my stomach. I’m gonna try Power Bar Bites next long ride. Good luck at IMCDA.
