Do you use the same cleat position on your road and tri bikes?
not if you want to win crits
.
That depends on your cleat position. I know that a far rearward cleat position is somewhat popular for triathlons and time trials. This is not terribly well suited for accelerating hard or sprinting, from my experience.
As for me, my feet hurt if the cleats are not shoved all the way forward, so the position I use on my TT bike is well suited for road riding as well.

more sprint power with the calf able to help out?
I use the same position, as well as the same brand of shoe (Sidi Ergo 2’s for road, Sidi T2.6 for tri) to keep things simple. I consider cleat placement to be more a function of biomechanical necessity than a way to tweak performance. I’ve been able to remain injury free (at least, pedal-induced overuse injury free) keeping things the same so I’ll continue to do so.
if one had a calf, then i would assume so
