I was reading the other pedal/knee stress thread and it got me wondering if there is any consensus on if any certain cleat position tends to lead to IT band syndrome. There seems to be a lot of people around this forum with IT band troubles. Thanks
anecdotally, the three things that tend to help are making sure your seat is too high; that your cleats are not too far forward; and that your cleat mount does not mandate that you ride too pigeon-toed, esp if you’re a splay-footer like me.
i hear about a lot of guys moving the cleats all the way back on the adjustment slots these days.
Every serious tri-athlete should have their bike set up correctly by a professional as the variables for size and weight of athletes are endless. A bike set up specifically for your frame well help hugely with the reduction of injury.
Also a common starting point of injury through the IT band are due to weak deep layer muscles which have been neglected in training.
