Clearwater hotels

I am hoping ST could help me figure out a good hotel in Clearwater for WC. I am looking for a hotel that is close to the race and is a good family hotel for my wife and son. Also price is a factor. Is the Hilton or host hotel worth staying at or should I look into some other hotels just south of the hotel.

Thanks, any help will be much appreciated.

this one was within walking distance (although a bit further than the one I stayed at). It seemed like a nicer place than where I stayed.

Hey I just quickly looked this up to refresh my memory. You want to get a hotel on gulfview blvd. If you get one on this strip it should be walkable to the race site. Ask them how close they are to the race site (I think it’s called Pier 70 or something like that)

make sure you get something in Clearwater Beach, not Clearwater. if you are in Clearwater there are only a few bridges to get you over to Clearwater Beach where the race is and that can be difficult. Clearwater Beach is just a sandbar with a bunch of condos and hotels and bars on it. the main road is Gulfview Blvd so anything on that and in Clearwater Beach wont be more than a few miles.

Like everyone else said, clearwater beach and not clearwater. Clearwater is a pretty good sized city and there are portions that are a good distance away from the race location. If you decide to stay off clearwater beach, keep in mind traffic is generally pretty crappy getting to/from clearwater beach and your family will also probably want to be at the beach anyways. There are plenty of hotels, i believe the hilton is the closest as its right on the round about but anything on the beach is well within walking distance. I wouldnt recommend shepards as that is a huge party spot and people party all through the weekend days and late into the night a few days a week.
