God I hope this surgery does what they say it does for the pain I’m fucking dying. The last hour waiting for the next pill is fucking misery
I shattered my previously broken clavicle into six pieces. I passed on the plate and screws and went with a Rockwood pin. I had other major injuries that kept me hospitalized so a comparison isn’t applicable but I was on my trainer the following week. The pin is coming out next week, job done. No residual issues, simple recovery.

Don’t wait. Take the meds. Whatever you do don’t take handfuls of Tylenol as that shit isn’t good for you. You are much better off taking the narcotics, healing, and weaning off when your body is ready. Another thing that helped me was a Cryo Cuff, basically a device that puts ice cold water right on the surgery point and it lasts for hours.
I envy all you with the regular plate. I got a hook place for the distal fracture and that thing is causing reduced range of motion and all sorts of soreness and sometimes pain if I move the shoulder just right. My scapula hurts because it has to pick up the slack for the immobile AC joint. Or maybe it’s the hook impinging on it. I don’t know. I hope the hell it all goes back to normal after they take this thing out in 4 months.
Writing this at 3:45 am, surgery is today, can’t sleep. Percocet and Cryo machine ready. Depending on what they find they may insert a rod through the bone rather than.the plate. In other news found out the bike was ok
