So, I mentioned before that the Delaware Diamondman Triathlon was changed to a duathlon because of a sewage leak. Instead of a 1.2 mile swim they added an 8k run. On such short notice I thought they did an excellent job. They just went one better…
I just got an e-mail stating that to make up for the incovenience caused by changing the course they will be giving a discounted entry into the new NEW JERSEY DEVILMAN HALF IRONMAN. How cool is that??? The e-mail says that it’s slated for May of 2005.
Not only is there another half ironman coming to my area (which is awesome) but it’s early in the year AND I get a discount on entry!
CLASSY!!!
the e-mail i received was from lin-mark but it says to look for the announcement on piranha-sports website sometime next month.
i too did Diamondman, although the extra 8k run did not fare nearly as well for me. despite the last-second change, i was very pleased with how they’ve handled this, and hopefully i can redeem myself at this new race in may. on a similar note for mid-atlantic triathletes, i had a similar experience with the To the Point Tri through triath.com. they had to cancel the race last year due to Hurricaine Isabel, so those of us who were entered got the option to transfer into our choice of 3 races this year. RD’s who are straight with us like this deserve some good publicity.
