Who else here still has and rides a classic tri bike with a classic setup? Granted I’ve ‘only’ trained on it the last 4 years, but it still gets ridden on a regular basis.

You have to race on it at least once. Watching the neophytes with the ultra-aero, high-zoot gizmo’s balk at you will be well worth the satisfaction you’ll have when you smoke 'em.
What year is this? Is it a Teesdale-built model (I’m assuming)? I’ve been hunting for one of these for a long time.
Thanks
I’m actually thinking of racing it once this summer.
I bought it in 1992, It’s a first generation Superform, after that they lowered the top tube. I’d guess it’s Teesdale. Maybe Dan could confirm this.
Wow!
Does the drive train still work? I used to ride a couple of “classic” steel bikes. They were heavy, but uber comfy.
The drive trains/wheels have long since retired and died. I’d rebuild them if I had the money, and time, and space. Right now, though, I can’t justify that.
My only comment, can you get a different seat? See if you can’t pick up a red QR seat off ebay. Should be five bucks or less.
Drive train isn’t exactly the same from when I bought the bike. It has been upgrade here and there over time.
Who need’s S-bend bars when you can have W-bends?
Personally, when I think of porn, I think of stuff I like to see…that bike is nasty. That’s just me though. ![]()
Dude thats awesome, I used to have one bought it brand new about 1992 or 1993.
Mine was white with red flecks/writing and full suntour GPX.
Seeing yours makes me wish I had kept mine.
Yeah i prefer my current bike , I think things have moved on a bit , but those first generation superforms are still super cool.
Is that a maple leaf on the seat tube? IF so, what is the connection?
Holy crap, these are the two pieces of kit that started the Aero Revolution:
1: Boon Lennon’s Scott DH Aerobar, created from the concept of a downhill skier’s tuck position (note the bends in the bars just like a DH racers poles) …I got my first pair of these babies in 1987 after I saw Andrew McNaughton use them and thump the likes of Pigg and the big 4.
Too cool.

Thanks, so was this one. I removed all the Suntour stuff.

Which is why I’m keeping it. I know that if I’d sell it I’d regret it and at the most I’d get a couple hundred bucks.
And while I could make it work, I just bought a new tri frame. The wife-spousal-unit would kill me if I jumped. …Even for $99. Damn.
People around here don’t have enough “Grant Peterson” in them to understand the sublime brilliance of showing up at Wildflower on something like this, and then blowing the doors off some goon on his “I bought it 'cause it won Kona” Kouta that’s two sizes too small with a 140mm stem and 3 inches of spacers…

Hey, I don’t have a classic bike anymore… But, I do have a pair of those old Scott DH bars and a pair of Profile Aero-I bars (in neon Yellow of course) laying around. Can’t seem to part with 'em… a older triathlete gave me the Aero-I bars when I was 16 after my first triathlon. I even kept them through my almost 10 year hiatus from triathlons that ended at IM C’dA last year ![]()
Looking around I also have a pair of Thompson Timeless Trasition Pedal Adapters, and an orginal Profile behind the Saddle Water bottle mount (the one with the small compartment covered with a flap of material).
Wish I still had the 1982 Team Fuji with Superbe Pro that I bought a bike swap for $250, that wasn’t a tri bike but it was a great bike for so many years for me… Should have never sold that one!
