Clamping beyond saddle max/min

So I’m at a toughy spot. Saddle position if fantastic, comfort awesome, but I have had to move my saddle all the way to the back as far as it will go which ends up being about 12mm past the ‘Max extend’ for my saddle. I know it’s a huge can of worms. My Thomson layback turned around forward gets me 1.6cm forward of where I was with a Zero Setback, but the only other option I see is to find a forward post with something more than 1.6cm of gain in the forward department.

I think Moots makes them, but not sure how much more I could get than Thomson…any ideas?

Uh-oh. I didn’t know that there wa a limit for this. On my old-school bike, I have the saddle all the way forward. Really nice riding, I think I get kind of a beam-bike effect from it. I’d better check for limit markings.

Not all saddles have them trust me, but my V-Flow does and I just wanted to make some inquiries. I rode a Flite Titanium saddle this way on a forward post for 5 years and never had an issue, but they didn’t have max/min lines on them back in the day.

A Profile Fast Forward post would probably get you another 3/4 of an inch or so compared to the Thomson turned around. I think Selcof made a bioposition post that had similar adjustability, as well as a version or two of the Look Ergo seatposts. There are some other options as well.

I did this for a while, but realize that if you’re trying to get a road bike to ride steep, handling can get squirrelly as there’s a lot more weight on the front wheel than the frame was designed for. If you’re looking to get a 76 degree tri bike to ride at 80+, it’s a bit more likely to have enough front center and proper trail to handle acceptably.
