CK for new york senate post?

http://www.nypost.com/seven/01192009/news/columnists/caroline_the_certain_pick_for_dave__riva_150822.htm

What do you folks think of this? Does anyone else think she would have gotten this post if not for her last name? Or is she the most qualified?

She is totally unqualified (she’s not even an ‘author’ as she claims, someone else wrote those books). All about her last name.

Which is GREAT, because that makes it very likely the Rs can pick that seat up in 10.

Millions of people in NY and this is the best they can do? Not a good choice considering her lack of experience. Although falling into money like she did may make her fit right in.

Not necessarily CK, but I like when appointees are not longtime politicians. The original concept was that the government would be real people servig for a while, not the career politicians we have now.

As far as her being qualified, well if Sonny Bonos wife could get appointed then, …

(keep in mind I know nothing about SB wife, it just seems amazing that Sonny went nto politics and his wife then became appointed when he died. Of only he hadn’t divorced Cher.)

Styrrell

qualified ?!?!? hell no! is she a drunk like her uncle Ted or a philanderer like her father John? Heck she may be the most qualified Kenedy yet.

Hi,

A couple of errors there:

  1. Mrs. Bono Mack wasn’t appointed to anything. She actually ran for the office and won. She’s done a pretty good job; I’ve met her a few times and the phrase “you know” never passed her lips.

  2. CK represents the opposite of the point of view you bring up in the first paragraph. She was selected because she’s part of a FAMILY of career politicians, not because she is a ‘real person.’ How many promises do you think her Uncle Ted and congressman cousin made to make it happen?

  3. The original concept was that Senators would be, more or less, pro-politicians, since the original plan had them chosen by state legislatures, not popularly elected. Until the early 20th century when the Constitution was amended to change that, it was very much an insider-only club.

I’ll bet Sara Palin is watching this one with keen interest.

Caroline Kennedy
withdrew her Senate bid because of a personal matter unrelated to her
ill uncle, rejecting the governor’s attempt to get her to reconsider, a
person who worked closely with her said Thursday.
