whats the relation to cirque du soleil? Cipo’s suit is ugly, Cirque is cool. Just saw the new show, Corteil here, pretty fun
Ummmm…yeah…just wondering where the ears and the cotton tail are…my goodness, man, what was he thinking?
But then again in our sport we have Pink Boy…
Obviously he was thinking that he’s God’s gift to the sport of cycling and to women around the globe. I’ve said it before, he’s the kind of guy that makes me want to go screaming towards the exit door.
GATDAR going off like NORAD during the Cuban Missile Crisis…
BING BING BING…GAY ALERT GAY ALERT!!!
Yup. I agree. The kind of sad thing is that he could have been remembered for his sprinting and then for his flamboyant (lack of) fashion sense. Now everyone will forget the sprinting part.
Oh, by the way, Happy Mother’s Day!
Tom.

Thank You sweetie. You doing anything for your mom (if she’s still with us)? We put on a Mom’s Day Biathlon here in Kona, one of our biggest of the year.
So where is Pink Boy when we need him?
Aloha,
Larry
Ok, Tom. You who scored an 11 talking “fashion sense”!!!
Oh God, I just looked at the second photo and saw the rainbow wrist band. I know what the rainbow stripes mean in cycling, but when one is wearing a skin tight pink disco spandex, glittery suit, rainbow means another thing.
Y - M - C - A! It’s fun to play at the Y-M-C-A!
Good god, I’m blind!!!
So where is Pink Boy when we need him?
I think we found his Dad.
c’mon … it’s Cipo. He’s the very definition of suave. And he’s (obviously) Italian, thus he has a genetic understanding of style woven into the very double helix of his DNA. Just cuz us Mericans don’t ‘get it’ doesn’t mean it ain’t tres cool.
Sides, it’s Cipo. He can do what he wants, and it’s a-ok. Almost singlehandedly he made cycing in Europe cool and stylish again. Anybody old enough to remember Euro racing in the late 80s-early 90s? It was a lot of things. Cool and sophisticated it was not.
I met Cipo in the mid 90s, back when his hair was still long and curly. He was wearing some kind of bespoke Italian suit that only a Continental superstar could pull off. It was very David Beckham, before Beckham was Becks. I remember wishing I had that kind of style, as I trudged through the Interbike convention hall wearing baggy shorts and a Paul Component Engineering t-shirt.
Say what you want about Cipo. Mock him if you have to. But to me he will always be the most stylish sprinter in the peloton.
It’s impossible to be suave when you’re dressed like a tampon box.
Like I said:
.
Read an article about him somewhere and he has like a 1,000sq foot closet with some 500 suits. I guess if you are into Italian Fashion Icons he is up there. That is one sorry ass suit he wore today. I always thought he was sort of slimy looking (only scored 6 on the metro test), but can’t argue with his palmars. I wish he would have finished a Tour once though. If old Magnus can haul his bones over the hills Cipo should too.
I’m suprised anyone was awake to see it. I love watching bike racing, but 2 hours of that prologue was enough to put anyone to sleep.
yeah, it’s too bad everyone isn’t a one dimensional boring ass that just blends into the background. sure, the suit is ugly, but it did the job right? it got you (and others) talking about cippo, which is very likely the reason he wore it in the first place. guys like cippo (and chris mcormack for that matter) add color to their sports. you need a few guys in the mix that can not only race well but stir things up and get people talking about them as well. good for them i say.
true dat. I couldn’t pull it off though. And it’s still arguable whether or not he did. It did attract attention though…
