Hey all-
Need to do a 100-110 mile ride tomorrow (thurs). Leaving out of Pleasant Ridge. Bored with my same old same old. Who’s got a good route, I’m training for Louisville. I have easy on road access to Loveland and N. KY. Give me your best ideas, and I really don’t want to drive anywhere, just get out and go. Thanks!
Tim
cross the river and ride out to Rabbit Hash, KY. Just did this route 2 weeks ago (plus a little extra) for 100+ Lightly traveled roads, lots of rolling hills like the LOU course and a cool destination!
Rabbit Hash is across the River from the Beltara Casino in IN.
Rod- Do you have a map/ route/ cue sheet source? I know it was in Cincy magazine a few months ago, but I don’t have it. Thanks. How’s the Lou training going?
Tim
Nope - no map. I was there hammering down some roadies on my tri bike
and would have been lost as hell. IM Lou training going OK - wish I wasn’t working so much, but family has been supportive and helpful to date (as usual).
I’d go down Stewart into Hyde Park, then work your way downtown, cross the 3rd (I think) bridge after the stadiums, then follow south and east on the back country roads via mapquest or whatever. Nice route.
Anyone else get me to Rabbit Hash from Rt.8 in Covington? Thanks.
Tim
To the best of my recollection this is the route in Ky for the ride Rod is referring to, hopefully this works:
Awesome! I was hoping you would chime in Andrew! I am far more directionally challenged with my head down hammering on my tri bike that you roadie guys. I swear Roger and Ty (and those other guys on Looks, etc) know every turn way in advance. Surprised they didn’t send me the wrong way a few times on purpose.
Hope the heel is feeling good and about healed.
Thanks for the map. Just what I needed. Anyone else chime in?
Tim
Not as fun as the Rabbit Hash ride, but here is the map from last Saturdays ride.

This is 100 miles of a 106 total ride. If you want to replicate the ride we stopped a the Trainstop Inn on the bike trail (aka The Monkey Bar), for several pitchers of Beer before riding the trail back to our cars.

Thanks Mark, appreciate the link.

The one thing I miss about cincy is riding around Rabbit Hash. I used to ride out there 3-4 times a week. There are lots of lightly traveled roads and a good mix of rolling and flat. There are some nasty hills too if you look for them. It always amazes me that more cyclists from Cincy didn’t go down there. Much better in my opinion than going out East on 8…
You’ll enjoy this ride. There’s a general store in Rabbit Hash that has food/fluids. They used to run out of Gatorade sometimes but there’s a small convenience store just 3 miles away on the way back too.
I know you said you don’t want to drive, but another variation of this ride for next time would be to park at the ferry and take it over to Route 8. Start your ride from there and you could go on further from Rabbit Hash. That would be less traffic and more country roads. I have a bunch of routes down there if you’re interested.
