do ya’ll know that there are weekly TT in Cleves? 6:30 pm, every Wed night until (I think) Sept. It’s 10 miles, with one small downhill mid course and one small uphill towards the end of the course, nice and smooth roads. also it’s staggered starts, and is alot of fun (even for an amateur like me who will probably come in last against all of the more experienced people
). Really though it’s about your own self improvement. i did it last year and everyone was very friendly.
Haven’t gone out yet this year but will do it next week. anyone else interested?
Not yet, but some day.
Kitty, are you a member of the Cincinnati Cycling Club?
yes I’m a member and just renewed yesterday. this year i sprung for the t-shirt (I’m so queer!! :P).
so, you’re telling me you don’t want to do the TT? not even for fun? that’s a bummer man.
No bummer, man, as I do want to do it – some day. I’m such a newbie I don’t even own a workable bike. My bike is 20 years old, and I don’t even know if it is works. I’ve decided – rightly or wrongly – that I’m not even going to train for a tri until I get within about 10 or 15 pounds of where I want my weight to be. I do work out at my gym, but no tri-specific training.
My only goal now is to lose weight and be healthy. THEN, I’ll decide which of the M-Dot races I want to win first, or if I just want to go ahead and win Kona first.
sooooo, you want to loose weight, but don’t want to ride a bike?
don’t pressure yourself on the weight/tri thing. pick a small event and participate–the exercise you do for the event will get you into shape and it’s more fun that the elliptical at the gym. just get out there!!
are you in the market for a new bike? my lbs could set you up nicely on a great bike at whatever price range you’re in…they are the most encouraging terrific guys. riding is a great way to slim down. and is so much fun!!
“sooooo, you want to loose weight, but don’t want to ride a bike?”
As I said, right or wrong my approach is what it is. And it is working. Everything you say is certainly reasonable, and I can’t disagree. But, I’m a stubborn SOB, and I’m going to stick with my plan, because it’s working.
I’ve recently become the President of a smallish but growing company, so my time is limited. And I’ve made the judgment that my X hours a week working out are best spent right now at the gym, where I can also lift weights, do ab work, and stretch.
When things settle down a bit, I’ll be joining you CCC people on the streets and trails of Cincinnati.
kittycat-
Ohio is such a great state for duathlons…Have you ever done the Buckeye Challenge?
i did the challenge last year. it was really hard, and I won’t be repeating that one anytime soon, unless i could find someone to do the run and relay it
That’s awesome…Wisconsin is definitely behind the curve when it comes to the Duathlon circuit. We only have a few and many of them are/have been poorly done…
I’ll probably be there this week Kitty. I’m thinking of giving the pursuit bike a workout on that course, is the hill too much for one gear?
How far from Campus Cyclery is it as I’ll likely be meeting up with Glenn in the afternoon before I roll over to the TT.

cool. i think you could do it on a fixed gear. i don’t remember any hills being killer, just a little inconvinient after riding really hard.
it’s not far from campus either. should take you 10 minutes by car to get to the TT. try to drive over there, the road is really dangerous that time of day (lots of nuts, trust me)
