Cinci ST'ers, anyone do the group ride from the Blue Ash Rec Center?

I was talking with someone at work yesterday who does cyclecross and he mentioned a group ride that leaves the Blue Ash Rec Center every morning during the week at 6:00am sharp (unlike typical road rides where the actual start time is at least 15-20 minutes after the designated start time…how novel!!).

M/W/F’s are typically easy and T/Th’s are a harder. Duration is typically 90 minutes.

Has anyone done this ride? Just wondering how hard the T/Th days are.

Does the pace yo-yo, or when they lay the smack down, is the higher tempo maintained?

Any insight is appreciated.

Peace.

I don’t currently, but I don’t think there is any “smackdown” since they are back by 7:30 and only go about 25 miles. Not sure about the T/H days, but I know some of the riders, so I don’t think the pace would be that bad (by roadie stds. that is). I might do a few of these early if it jives with my new schedule per coach since I live less than 2 miles from the BARC. But, damn, that is early to bike!

so do you think it is more of a roadie ride or tri ride? i am thinking about doing it tomorrow. depends on weather. that is really early though.

Roadie ride for sure - no dork bars

Actually, I don’t know their policy about tri bikes - but it is definitely NOT a good idea to show up at a new, established group ride at 0 dark 30, lights, ride in a paceline to the hills, climb, etc. on a tribike until you are familiar (if at all) with the group.

aside from a few times goofing around, i have not been on tri bars in my life, but your point about bike handling/group experience is well taken. also, your post did raise some concern with regard to vision (or lack there of). sunrise at 7:39! i have a rear blinkie, but i somehow think that this will be grossly inadequate.
