he swam it in 18:52. I can swim a few 25s that fast before I get tired. Damn.
He led off the 200 Free relay with a 18.47…two fastest times ever.
That is unreal.
Holy F%&$!!! Its always a humbling thing to compare oneself to the elite… I was just thinking before I read this thread about I good I’ve been swimming lately… guess not.
That’s sick. I remember 10-12 years ago watching NCAAs in Minneapolis and being impressed when Brian Retterer split an 18.6 or something anchoring the 4x50. That’s crazy, crazy fast.
Brian Retterer! There is a name I haven’t heard in a while. His 200 Back at NCAAs was amazing. I swam with him a bit when he ‘came back’ for a couple years with the Curl Burke swim club. The guy’s got talent!
As for that 50…WTF!

Further down the list, a couple of guys tied for 16th place in the 50 free, then tied again in the swim-off for the spot. Took a second swim-off to decide who got the evening swim, and I bet both guys were glad they weren’t in the 500 free or 200 IM.
He led off the 200 Free relay with a 18.47…two fastest times ever.
Then that should be a record too, IIRC the first leg of a relay is eligible to set a record. (What suit was he wearing? };^)

My swim coach used to be his coach … Unfortunetaly … I didn’t born with the same genes.
Pfff. Why is that a record? I can run almost…TWICE that fast!
