6,000 pages! Holy shit. Think of the environmental damage caused by this. How many f-ing ink cartridges did it take to print it? How much suffering was caused by having to 6,000 fucking pages?
The sumary is 500 pages. The sumary!
Outrageous!

IRS tax code is 75K pages, printed way more often and causes far more suffering…

When will the suffering stop!?
500 pages? Amateurs.
*The American government authorized morally and/or legally questionable interrogations in the name of national security. *

…and used some of the intel to get OBL, for which BHO takes credit.
Yay!

And these savages would be more than happy to cut the heads off of American citizens and broadcast it for no more crime than being Americans. Sorry if I’m not crying a river for their plight in Guantanamo.
‘Everyone’ wants America to play nice and treat these SHPOS well but I get tired of hearing how bad we are. I think we have displayed remarkable restraint…

I’ve been hearing a lot lately that it’s because of all us whitey’s are racist. So maybe if we all hold hands and sing Kum by Yah?

Just because you’re better then someone else doesn’t mean your good. I’m all for pointing out our faults as a country assuming they are in fact faults and not just BS charges of being faults. I’m on the fence with the whole torture thing. I’d have to do considerable more research on whether or not there is actual benefit to it and whether it does actual save lives or cost lives etc etc. I’m not convinced either way at this point.
It comes down to the same old extreme example. If torturing someone ended up getting you information that saved hundreds or thousands of lives is that a bad thing? I’m not sure especially when the person you’re torturing is a person that has/is trying to kill you in the first place.
I do believe that in nearly all circumstances there are probably better approaches and if it turned out that torture simply was not as effective as these other approaches I would think that we should not torture. Again, I simply don’t know the truth at this point.
I think we have displayed remarkable restraint…
Well…not so much. Invading two countries and bombing several others is not what I would call “Restraint”.

Why are they doing this?
Didn’t we go through this crap already a few years ago?
By doing this is this going to make us a better country?
If we get attacked again and American civilians are dying nobody is going to give a shit about prisoners. If enhanced methods of interrogation work (I have no clue, but I can see how it would) I think it will still go on. People will turn a blind eye to it and say “this is war do what you have to do” especially when they realize their own asses are in danger.

I’ll wait for the Michael Moore expose.
They had to put out this report. The “blame it on the video” meme was exposed, so they needed to find something else to blame hostile acts on. /semi-sarcasm

Does that include those who the CIA admits were incorrectly detained, but held nevertheless for up to six months after said realization? You know, innocent people? Were they savages, too? Was that “restraint”?

Democrats are having a bad 6 weeks so they needed to get back to blaming Bush for all of the country’s bad deeds. Yea!

Or maybe it had something to do with Jonathan Gruber meeting with the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee the same day…
If a single American dies because of the release of this information, or if any American military units are attacked and the reason for the attack can be linked to this report, then the person(s) responsible for its release should be arrested and tried for the crime of treason.

No, it doesn’t just come down to that. What about the people who actually don’t know anything actionable, but are tortured nevertheless? Is that a bad thing? How do you determine who knows something that will save lives?
If enhanced methods of interrogation work (I have no clue, but I can see how it would) I think it will still go on.
The information you get by physically torturing someone is unreliable.
A nation or a group that physically tortures their prisoners loses sympathy from the vast majority of the world for whatever cause they are trying to achieve. (Japan in WWII, North Vietnam, Al-Qaeda, etc.) While it might satisfy some “eye for an eye” feelings, there are better ways to get information than by using physical torture.
Having said this, I am not in favor of releasing this report to the public. Some people in the government need to take action, but that doesn’t require self-flagellation.
I think we have displayed remarkable restraint…
Well…not so much. Invading two countries and bombing several others is not what I would call “Restraint”.

Really? That is restraint. Google Trinitite, that would have been a less restrained response.

and you want to bet what the lead story will be on the news tonight?
If a single American dies because of the release of this information, or if any American military units are attacked and the reason for the attack can be linked to this report, then the person(s) responsible for its release should be arrested and tried for the crime of treason.
The trial can take place right after the trials for U.S. war crimes.
