Chrissie Running

Can we discuss this? I’m certainly not qualified to analyze anyones stride, but how does she avoid injury with this? It just looks painful. But shes smiling still!

Man, I thought that dude on the right was in a stormtrooper costume.

Some people are just “ugly” runners, but quite effective. We had a local guy who ran ~30:00-31:00 for MANY years at the Charleston Bridge Run 10k (Kenyans run high 27-low 28s here due to the bridge elevation gains) but looked like complete ass. We use to make fun of his style at the track workouts. And then he’d smash us with something like 24 400s at 1:05, jog 200.

All you need is the scoreboard…~32 seconds off the women’s Kona run record set in the same race. I don’t care what it looks like…she’s fast.

Are you talking about the knee? If so I think that can be explained by the angle of the camera.

I think she looks good. She has great arm carry and cadence. You may refer to the fact that she appears to have a collapsing knee but it is in line with her foot and I believe that this happens because her hips are wider than her feet so she has to correct in order to get her feet and knee under her center of gravity. Her toes are pointed a bit “out” but I think that is because as the small muscles fatigue in Ironman you start to get movement. I saw her running from the side the day before the race and she has no overstriding and a very, quick, compact stride, so any small movements wont be magnified since she pops off her foot so quickly. Again, that can all change with fatigue. g

Yes, thank you. I wasn’t commenting on her speed. Thats most evident. Simply that her run looks a bit fugly and painful.
