Looks like she’s taking full advantage of her independence from TBB sponsor restrictions, but Cannondale?
Maybe she took the time to find a bike that she fits on properly. I haven’t compared the S/R on the P2C and Slice, but they may be similar. I don’t know for sure.
Also, in the age of carbon custom fit shoes and whatnot, she’s still using the Shimano TR50, which is an older shoe.
Maybe, just maybe she likes stuff that works well for HER.

Wonder if she has quietly resented the way Cervelo would only give her a Soloist for Korea and then a P2C for Kona in 2007. I know Sutton was ‘blamed’ for her being on the P2C in 2008, but wasn’t the story for late 2007 that Cervelo wouldn’t pony up?
OR…$$$$$$$$$$$$$ is better with the 'dale
.
IMO, one of the most overlooked and under-appreciated tri/tt frames on the market. Aesthetically, that aerobar set-up is horrible…hopefully, Hed will send her the new Black Dog or Vantage 8.
Funny how many ST’ers can’t see this possibility.
Come on folks, do you really think most pros really care that much about what bike they’re on? It’s all about the dineros.

that’s my vote.

Is the Cannondale name not exclusive enough for you?
Huh? WTF are you talking about?

The Slice is a beautiful, beautiful bike! It will probably be the replacement for my beloved 8 year old Lightspeed (sigh, the titanium still hasn’t worn out…)

(OK the code for the next lines should be PINK)
Wow. So she’s been kicking ass while NOT being fit properly? I like Belinda Grangers interview for Kona 08 where she stated that the rest of the field was racing for second. Guess next year Sindballe or Lieto might be saying that instead. Harr.
cheers

Will people still hammer the aesthetics of the bike if she wins Kona a third time?
Sometimes I wonder about this place, the same one where a seven-time Tour de France winner gets rapped on for wearing a “dorky” helmet.
Huh? WTF are you talking about?

Sorry man! I meant that response to the OP…I screwed up.

What’s wrong with the Slice, out of curiosity?
doesn’t matter what she is on, she will be at the front. I don’t remember how many minutes she lost with her flat tire at Kona, but she still found a way to pound the competition.

Yeah, because handlebar aesthetics is what really matters when it comes to getting in the best possible position on the bike. If thats what she is comfortable riding (cause obviously c-dale wouldn’t force her ride that setup) then it should be an inspiration to us all.
I was riding the Henshaw Loop in San Diego last weekend, and ran into a triathlete on the new slice. I thought it looked fantastic, and more importantly, the guy said it fit him great, and was an awesome bike. As was mentioned, it is really more about the $…
I didn’t mean to knock the Slice at all in my OP (I guess the ? does that). I actually think its an awesome bike. I’m just surprised it wasn’t Cervelo to pony up sponsorship money. I figure any bike company would really want Chrissie on their rig, I just didn’t expect Cannondale to come out on top. I thought it Kuota would pick her up actually.
Her comment about wanting a bike company that included the whole package, not just the bike, pretty much tells it all…3 guesses what package means…
And I love how she felt great right away on the bike. Amazing since it was set up pretty much like her old one…Listen people, if you put the same saddle, and the same aero bars, in the same position on any bike, it is pretty much going to feel good, if it did beforehand on the previous bike. Depending on the geometry of the bike, it could handle a bit differently, but as for moving it foreward in a straight line, really no difference…
It’s great that she got a long term deal too, that is really the most important aspect of this relationship. It could’nt have been cheap for Cannondale, but it is a serious move on their part to try and get relevant in the triathlon market again. It’s been a long downward slide for them, and they have to change it up somehow to stop the bleeding. New bikes that triathletes can relate to, new athletes to promote them, good step in the right direction…Good for her, and who would’nt want Simon Lessing as your training partner. Another couple of years, and that will be a pretty even match…Chrissy going 8:50 in Hawaii to break the record, and Simon going about 8;40 to win the masters division…
It means willing to pony up a lot of cash for her pet cause.
Perfectly valid.
