Chrissie loses another race, will she still win Hawaii?

Looks like Chrissie is not invincible anymore… You guys think she’ll still win in Kona?

What race? Link to results? Last I checked she had never lost at an IM.

Early Kona prediction (assuming no injuries):

Chrissie by a mile
Drtommy by a km

Let’s see…2 Ironman this year, 2 wins, twice under 9hrs, one of these, weeeeelll under 9hrs just a few weeks ago, maybe she’s a tad tired…so, hmm…yes, she will
.

Who really cares?

According to her website her next race is Timberman. What race are you referring to?

5430 long course?

someone posted in another forum that she took 2nd to Julie Dibens.

Trying to find results…

i guess she lost 5430 half ironman. it would help to post results with the post. i heard she trained right through the race and had no taper. i assume she will dominate hawaii again

Or maybe those races weren’t important to her so she didn’t feel the need to win at all costs?

Just out of interest, if you think she’s not invincable anymore based on the results of a Half, are you predicting Julie is going to beat her in Kona?

I’m personally not interested in whether Chrissie will win, I’m more interested in who the hell can beat her over that distance?

You can’t lose a podium race. You can fail to win first place, but there’s no losing involved.

I would guess she is in the middle of a big build about now. This most likely was a meaningless training race.

I wouldn’t bet against her.

Triathlete “fans” can be fickle and like to rate favorites by “you are only as good as your last race”.

“Successful” triathletes live by “you are only as good as your NEXT race”.

“If you ain’t first, you’re last.”

She is defending her title at Timberman in 2 weeks - so this was likely a training race.

She killed it on the bike - I know, because she was one of five people to pass me on the bike (and I re-passed one of them, so he doesn’t count).

Does anyone know how seriously she was taking this race? I mean, she didn’t even bother tapering for Kansas 70.3 (which she won handily, after flatting on the bike, if I recall…). Maybe it didn’t factor into her serious training plan to make this an A race. - Especially consider her results at Roth and the fact that she’s gonna kill it at Timberman!

I’ve swam at FAC (across the pool from her), and I can tell you, her fitness is still astonishing.

They should put Crissie in the mens field @ kona, she’ll still finish top 50 overall. I can’t see anybody beating her in Kona this year, my top 3… Crissie by 10 mins, Natacha Baddman, Rebekah Keat

With out a doubt!
