awesome
.
thanks for posting that. Always enjoy watching Ryan and Josh run and the post workout commentary.
Very impressive, I wonder how this is going to translate for Lieto at Kona.
Very little of Lieto of running, but there was no way he was going to keep up
But always beautiful to watch Hall run, poetry in motion
… It’s impressive that Lieto again shows just how big of dorks IMers are with the socks.
Note to self:
To be a fast runner, I need to train bare chested
Fred.
Lieto looked like molasses! Granted he was running with RH so its not surprising, but geez the compression socks shoulda made him 10 secs faster/800, lol!
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
On the second set I noticed that Lieto was wearing COMPRESSION SOCKS.
Yeah, seriously Chris. WTF. You had to wear the socks. I don’t care if they’d decided to do it all barefoot. You gotta look like the runners.
Of course the World Class Triathlete has to be in compression socks!
Not critiquing but more just observing. It seems like Ryan Hall runs with very stiff arms and shoulders which I have always been told/learned is a big waste of your energy when running. I have also been told that it tightens up your upper body in general and can hurt breathing. Obviously you can’t argue with success and must just be how he is comfortable and what works best for him. Just think it’s interesting because it’s counter to what many “coaches” would suggest. Dude is fast. Wish I could run like that. I love watching world class runners because they move so fluidly and easily. The really do make it look easy.
Anybody’s guess right?
The video has Hall’s splits; just taking a random guess here but Lieto might have managed a few in the 2.28 range, most in the second set had to be mid 2.40.
I read an article about Ryan’s form once time. It said that a coach actually tried to “fix” his form, but they found out with testing that he was more efficient with his current form. But I think the main thing they tried to correct was how low he keeps his hands/arms.
Can’t remember where I read it, but I read an interview with him talking about his form, and that he had tried changing his arm swing early on but that it just didn’t work for him.
Of course with the results he puts up, maybe we should all be running like that!
Is ryan hall a heel striker?
Lieto just swam/biked too long/hard the day before.
Of course the World Class Triathlete has to be in compression socks!
It’s just that triathletes are so far ahead when it comes to technology.
I was holding out hope for a fuel belt too.
Huge Ryan Hall fan. Love the fact that none of the guys were wearing HR monitors or ipods. Just the old style put on your shorts and shoes and hammer away. Hall always looks so effortless when he runs. Very graceful. Very humble guy too.
Glad to see Chris up there training with them. Very smart move. Fun that Deena is in the background hammering too.

Which world class runner does that again on 800 reps?
