Choose my new bike

I know, fit, fit, fit. But I’m looking for a road bike for under $2000 and I want to get some ideas. Presently i have a 54cm Felt 2005 S32 and it works nicely for me. I’ve just readjusted the fit to be pretty agressive and want something that I can do a comfortable century on and could also do some local crits. Please advise.

Bump. Somebody has to have an opinion on this.

I have the Felt as well. - Bought the Soloist Team to do some road-racing and group rides. I love the bike, the handling, stiffness - the looks

I recommend to take it out for a test ride and see how it feels. Good luck!

Soloist Team is a great bike for the money. But you are asking 2 very different things: comfy for long century rides and to do crits on (i.e. short rear wheelbase, stiff, etc.)

Can’t go wrong with a nice Ti bike for comfort (but many “power” guys find them flexy for crits). An inexpensive, stiff, AL Canondale would be great for a crit, but might not be comfy for the long stuff. Since most tri guys find about any road bike comfy (since we ride all contorted on race wheels and on our taints), I’d err on the stiff/crit type bike and just run some nice tires with less air for your century rides

Thanks. That’s kind of what I was thinking. I did IMMOO on a an aluminum tri bike, so anything will probably be comfy.

I recently picked up a Kestrel Talon and am very impressed. Aero tubing, internal cabling and full carbon frame made in the USA by a company that genuinely understands the material. About the same price as an aluminium Soloist. Was a no brainer for me.

What about just using a little softer tires for centuries, etc?

That seems like a good call.

A good raod biek for racing crits can still be comfy for longer rides as well, assuming its properly set-up.

My road bike is solid for crits, and I can comfortably ride over 150km on it, and race longer road races on it as well.

OR, I nice beam bike???
