Chocolate Milk-confirmed

Men’s Health said you should be doing three shots a day. I usually reserve it for recovery drink but might expand my consumption.

Is it the “Chocolate” Milk that they’re studying or just milk. Can all the same benefits come from plain 1% milk and have less sugar?

protein whey is better. im really sick of the chocolate milk for recovery thing. yeah it tastes good and i love it but its not a staple in one’s diet.

" one when you wake up, a second before you exercise, and a third directly after your workout."

I spy a problem: who can drink milk before a workout?!

I am into chocolate cheerios as of late. They make chocolate milk by the end.

Plain milk is fine, except post workout, when the sugar is beneficial.

What’s wrong with sugar? Aren’t you a triathlete?

Do you eat the whey right out of the can or with plain water? If not, you must cut it with something sweet to make it palatable. So after you do all that, why is your engineered drink superior to simple choc milk?

Chocolate Cheerios, really? Yum.

I need to get out more often.

engineered? more like purified. it digests quicker than milk protein even though its derived from milk.

i figured people get enough sugar from their sports drinks.

What do you mix your whey with?

BTW, the largest supplier of whey protein is 5 miles from my house. Nasty, yucky. I prefer the real thing untouched by processing.

i would never suggest milk in any athletic diet regimen. although its high in some nutrients it is acidic and that will slow down recovery. although many do, some top endurance athletes who do a lot of research with nutrition do not drink milk for high gains

so you drink unpasteurized milk straight from a cow teat?

I was going to post this article as well.

MikayP, some athletes who are looking to gain weight (specifically muscle) will drink up to a gallon of milk per day. A former football player on another board I visit has done this, and has said other athletes do the same.

So, some athletes, and their diet regimen, do include milk. Just wanted to point that out.

absolutely. but that doesnt mean it’s the most efficient way. many people just keep doing what they are used to and think thats what “works for them”

i could get out my books on nutrition, but i gotta head out and run. if people don’t want to fuel efficiently, fine with me. their loss

You didn’t answer my question yet. I think it is because you feel foolish because you use a product extracted from the milk then you re-insert it back into milk, juice or some other sugary medium. An this is somehow better. OK.

I call BS on being able to ride 49% longer because they drank chocolate milk before. Either that or their test subjects aren’t athletes.

Post workout I go with whey protein smoothie.

youre joking right? it’s confirmed? the author has no clue about nutrition beyond the idea that a lot of fat, salt and sugar are bad, so he assumes skim milk is good for you

What’s wrong with Men’s Health? It’s as credible as most of the whacky shit people say on ST.

Haven’t you heard? Humans are the only mammals who drink milk into adulthood.

Of course, humans are the only mammals who drink Frappachinos, malted beverages, and whey protein, so …

I love a good chocolate milk thread.
