Chip in bike paint

I’m looking for advice on best way of covering chips in bike paint. I have a 5x5mm chip in the paint on my new SC that has the carbon underneath exposed. I was thinking of using clear nail polish to cover it up but figured it would be best to check with ST before doing anything.

Thanks

I use a clear nail polish and it works very well. It keeps the paint from chipping off even more.

Doesn’t really matter since it’s not going to rust.
Find nail polish or model paint that matches and use a small brush to dot some on.

Is any of clear around the edges buckled/peeled up?

You’ll want to clean the area of any impurities/sweat grime. While carbon doesn’t rust or oxidize, you don’t want anything in the paint. Then, find the closest matching nail polish (if you want to be precise, buy two close colors and create your own mix). If you don’t want to see the depth difference, apply a few applications to raise the paint. Once that’s done, apply clear nail polish finish with a hardener. You’ll want to apply a couple coats. Let it dry for at least a couple hours and then lightly buff.

Another option to smooth out the indentation (what I do) is use epoxy, then paint over that with enamel.
