Rio (first ever in SA) or Madrid (home country of Juan Antonio S. who still had a pretty big influence). Will Rio’s crime scare them? Plus a lot of facilities will need to be constructed.

Long time IOC president Juan Antonio Samurach (sp?) is dying of Cancer and gave an impassioned message about “Bring these games to my home town for me.” (Paraphrasing) I knew he was dying but didn’t know he would be allowed to lobby for Madrid (which I think is his home town).
I’m shocked, but after the Samurach message… not as much.

I watched the presentations live at 3 AM here in Chicago. I think we missed an opportunity in not showing some of the Chicago Marathon in the video presentation. They did show the Chicago Triathlon.

Chicago was a 4/5 favorite according to several gambling websites. Rio was 2nd (don’t know the odds for others than Chicago).

yeah, doing that to the most important black person on earth was terrible. maybe it was the known history of the corrupt Chicago political folks…oh wait…all of them but Obama.
I am glad that they are not coming here. Maybe now Chicago and the area can stop spending money on that stupid stuff and spend it on schools and crime.

100% it’s Rio…how could Europe get three consecutive Olympics (counting winter in Sochi) and S. America gets turned away?
This was politics…once Chicago was eliminated, Rio because automatic.
It was classic Daley misdirection. Keep the voters focused on something else so they forgot about how may City officials are in Jail, parking meters, kids getting killed in the streets, huge budget short falls, etc.
The day of reckoning will come when Daley is up for re-election.
