Chicago Hotel Recommendation

On the way back from IMW, I am staying in Chicago for one day/night. Just doing touristy things, walking around etc. Any input on hotels would be great.

Thanks,

Dave

How much do you want to pay?

Always a great stay at the

Four Seasons

.

I dont particularly care about price. BUT, since we will be there for one night and I would think not in the room much at all, I would rather not get screwed at a pompous ass place. I guess a decent hotel in a good area with access to tourist things would be preferred. Since we are staying with others, they may have some kind of budget involved.

Thanks for any info.

Congress Hotel. Ask for a room with a view. Great view of grant park fountain and the lake. At christmas 2006 room was $115

2 blocks from art institute. Long walk(short cab ride) to magnificent mile and navy pier.

I would go to Hotwire and book a room through them. You can use Hotwire’s “star” ratings to ensure you get a decent hotel, and any 3-4star hotel will be fine.

I did this recently when in LA to get a room right by LAX for the night before an early morning flight home, $85 at the Airport Hilton. Very nice.

2nd on the Congress. Old hotel, but the location can’t be beat. Price is probably about 130 for a Lakeview room - or take a chance at the internet special rate and ask for lakeview at checkin.

If you really want to go cheap, there is a youth hostle one block west, you can get a bed for $30 or less.

Hotel Monaco. Palmer House Hilton. W Lakeshore. These three should cover the gamut both stylistically and economically.

The Congress is kind of nasty.

Thanks for all the input. Very appreciated.

I got a good deal from priceline.com at the palmer house a few weeks ago. Try to name your own price to see if you can get something well below the asking price from most web pages.

Look up the Allegro - nice place downtown, good prices.

Hotel Burnham - State and Washington. You owe it to your family.
