Hoping to find an experienced cyclist/triathlete to ride tandem with a visually impaired cyclist.
I am currently at the Olympic Training Center training with a 24 year old cyclist that lost his vision during a roadside bomb attack in Iraq in 2008. He has ambitions of making the U.S. National Paralympic team and competing in UCI Worlds level, National Championship, IM events and maybe London 2012. I would love to support him but unfortunately I live in New England and unable to regularly train with him.
If you live in the Chicago area and are a strong cyclist or a triathlete with strong cycling you might be a perfect fit. Ideally he is looking for a riding partner to train with. Do not worry if you have never ridden a tandem - key here is to be strong, fast and smooth - you can develop the tandem experience.
Most of the championship events are less than 30KM TTs but speeds are upward of 30-35+ MPH - good fun.
