Chest Strap Compatible with Landice L8 Executive

Just picked up a used L8 Executive treadmill with no chest strap/transmitter Instead of paying the $130+ that Landice wants for the strap/transimitter do you know of a cheaper alternative?
Many thanks!

Most treadmills use uncoded chest straps (so people in gyms can move from machine-to-machine).

Almost any cheap HRM will use an uncoded strap (I actually have a cheap HRM just for the gym, since my Timex coded won’t show up on the treadmills, bikes, elipticals).

Thanks. Are you pretty sure it’ll work? Since this is not a commercial treadmill (as I understand it) and they were charging so much for their strap I was thinking it may be more complicated than a simple non-coded strap.

Can’t be positive, but it’s a pretty good bet. If you can borrow an uncoded strap (or have an old one lying around) it should be easy to test.

Since it’s for home use, there is no reason for them to use anything but an uncoded system.

Our Landice Cardio-Pro works just fine with a cheap uncoded Polar compatible transmitter. I see them as low as $23 on Amazon.

My Landice L8 does not work with any of my HRM straps other than the one it came with. I’ve owned it ~15 years and I can’t say every strap that it’s been exposed to but several types of Polar and Timex are in that group. I believe the original strap may be Cardiosport…I’m not where I can check it.

In any case I very very rarely use the HRM feature. I thought it would be cool because you can set the treadmill to adjust speed/incline to meet HR targets but in practice it is better to just do it manually, and if I want HR I use my normal HRM watch. My advice would be to forget the built in HRM and get a normal watch HRM that you like.

So my wife has an old HRM watch that she never used, a Polar that said “31 Coded” on the back of the transmitter. Figured I’d give it a try and sure enough IT WORKED!
I contacted Polar and they said if that works then any T31 or H1 coded transmitters would work, but not the non-coded transmitters.
Just in case anyone else needs to replace a Landice version…
Will order a T31 or H1 and post if they end up not working. (Want to have more than one so we don’t need to keep swapping out the transmitters.)
Thanks all
