ChesapeakeMan / IM Maryland

I’ve heard IM Maryland will have a very similar course as the old ChesapeakeMan. Is this true? Where can one find the ride/run elevations for this race as IM has yet to publish them.

Draw a straight line across the page…that’s your elavation.

Yeah…could be windy and spend the entire 112 in your bars! I have been talked into this race for 2015 and I think I am dreading it.

I think the only “climbs” on the course are crossing bridges over the marsh…about a 2’ vertical climb.

Did Chessy a few years back…with only 200 or so folks doing the long course made for a you against
the course feel. One of my favorite IM days. Enjoy!

I’ve done Chessy twice and I think the course will be similar but T2 will be in different location for IMMD (same as T1 I have heard instead of the HS).

Course is as flat as you can imagine and then flatter. Right after one of the tiny bridges, the road flooded due to the tide. First loop is was a little flooded second loop is covered the whole road on and off for a good mile…very strange as it was quite deep in section but you couldn’t tell how deep it was. Second year I did it no water.

There can be wind in parts that are wide open, but some sections have trees and is much more protected.

If you want a guess as to the course look at Eagleman course or the old Chessy IM distance course. I think the course will be very close.

The course maps are out. You can check the GPS data if you want but like everybody said it is flat

yeah the course maps are on ironman’s website:

.

So are there many studs showing up to punch an early ticket to Kona next year or are most of the fast AGers focusing on racing Kona this year.

Curious since there are such few KQ slots.

my wife and some friends rode the Eagleman course as a training ride in March, 2010. Rained the previous day, road was flooded in places AND there were snakes crossing the road in the water. unfortunately, no pictures :frowning:
