The fact is the bridge he was in front of can’t handle the capacity. Many years ago the breakdown lane was turned into a driving lane, so any accident causes massive delays. A replacement bridge is only in the planning process, will cost over $2B, and is at least 5 years away from being “shovel ready”. Obama’s jobs plan won’t help this bridge, won’t help employment related to building this bridge, in the slightest. He mentioned this bridge in his state of the union address, but had a picture up of a different bridge.

Obviously, Obama’s railroad plan is weak. My railroad plan would start in Cape Horn (southernmost Argentina) and link all existing railroads in South America, heading north including a sweet looking bridge over the Panama Canal, north through Mexico, US, Canada to Alaska (Cape Prince of Wales) railway bridge to Siberia across the European Continent to the Eurotunnel underneath the English Channel to Great Britain.

But not an inch of new track has been laid. (I think)
Instead they are doing enviro impact studies about crickets, moths, lizards and other shit.
More $$ spent on thought than actual action.
