GoLite makes functional, performance oriented outdoor clothing born in the adventure racing genre’. They don’t do tri specific clothing except for cycling clothing, which we sell and is nice.
The coolest stuff in the line are the ultralight shell jackets that literally pack easily to the size of a Clif Bar.
Their backpacks and hydration packs, as well as their advanced fabric “C-Thru” moisture management apparel, is so advanced it is sold to ultra-secret U.S. Military and other Speical Operations units in special color schemes not available to the public- It is the exact same design, just in subdued color schemes with no logos. This is the stuff used by units so secret you’ve never heard their names. The stuff is ultra-packable, so light it is bizarre and incredibly durable. They make a 2700 cu. in. backpack with full features that rolls up to the size of a small beach towl and weighs nothing but can carry 30 lbs. comfortably.
Their insulated, cool/cold weather clothing such as the “java jacket” and the other stuff blows The North Face away in terms of function, durability and especially weight.
Is there a limit to what people with disposable income will spend? The cervelo clothing is just behind the Assos stuff in terms of MARKETING. Can I get some cervelo chamois cream with that?
Not to bust your balls, I was just really frustrated buying racing clothes today (prices have increased 10-20% from last year). I’m noticing the local races that were full 3 months in advance last season still have open slots this year. Hopefully the rest of the industry will feel the same pinch and re-adjust their prices. Either that or I’m going to have to get a bike shop job…
thx for the link tom. some nice stuff…and i was just looking for some foul weather gear for winter training :D. their kinetic jacket (which is EXACTLY what i was looking for) seems to be sold out everywhere - a problem. plus, european dealers are scarce so shipping might be steep :(.
Tom
With winter coming soon I am looking for a good quiet jacket for rain. The quiet is imporant as the watter repelant. Northern NY snow and rain and lots of winter. I will check the golite stuff out thanks

NOPE!!

Haven’t tried the Cervélo stuff, but Assos is expensive because it’s damned good. Look for it on E-Bay.

Not likely to reverse that trend as more and more folks take up cycling, especially in America, where Lance has everyone pumped up. The sad/silly thing is seeing the guys and gals with 20 years worth of flab and cottage cheese thighs jammed into brightly-colored spandex.
But then that was largely their motivation from the start, to get fit and look like studs/studettes. I just wish they included full-length mirrors with some of these clothing purchase!
