I need to buy new wheels. Somehow my front wheel just bent horribly out of shape by a car pulling into the garage (where I used to keep my bike, learned my lesson). So I want a decent pair of wheels under $200. I saw these Pro-Lite Comos for $140 and was wondering if anybody knew anything about these OR if somebody could point me in the direction of a better wheelset. Any help would be appreciated.
If you can’t find something used, that seems like a hell of a deal on a pair of everyday wheels.
Neuvations are pretty good, there’s one model in your price range. I run the M28 Aeros (I think the old model) as training wheels on my tri bike, no probs yet.
Thank you. It’s just so much easier to find the $2k wheelsets when all i want is some $200 practice wheels.
FSA RD-80, or RD-88(current model) are decent wheels in your price range. I have a few pair of FSA wheels and have been very happy with them, my current RD-200 (a slightly more expensive model) has about 10k miles on them with zero work done to them. They aren’t the lightest wheels in the world, but they are durable and reliable!
Excel Sports has a deal on Reynold’s Alta Comp Wheelset for $159 a set, no experience with them but that seems like a decent deal.
I’ll second the Neuvation M28 Aeros. When buying my all purpose training wheels I researched the market very carefully and concluded they were the most bang for the buck. They’re as decent as some wheels that cost 2-3 times as much.
MSRP is around $299. but if you look on ebay sometimes they can be had for less.
