Charolette NC, what to do?

Hey guys, myself and three friends are coming to Charolette NC for the weekend and are looking for fun ideas. We are all outdoor oriented and are looking to hike, run trails, and explore new places. We don’t have our bikes but are willing to drive an hour or so for a good hard hike with neat views or something a few guys from florida may not see at home. Are there any public pools where we could get a workout in on Sunday morning? Also, if anyone has any info on fun nightlife and events going on this weekend please share! My BIL lives there. We’ve been to the national whitewater center, there are 20 miles of trails there for MTB and running/hiking and can rent bikes. Uptown (downtown) was where most of the nightlife was. We’ve been out to chimney rock area that’s pretty cool.

Regarding pools the primary public pool the MAC is not open until 1pm:

You could go for an open water swim in Lake Norman or Mountain Island Lake.

Like others have said the white water center will be a great experience. None of the trails are really hard to hike within an hour. The hiking around Linville Gorge is nice but it is 111 miles from Charlotte:

For Night Life Epi Center is a common singles place ( I am told) The white water center often has bands on the week-end and draws a nice crowd as well.
