Any insight for during-race changes of tubulars attached using glue strips (I use Tufo brand, but I guess the answer should be the same regardless).
Do I carry a spare glue strip plus tire and do a total remount on course?
Do I carry a spare tubular only because some glue strip stays on when you peel the old tire?
Do I glue the tire I a little bit and really on that to get me to T2?
Or is it D) none of the above?
I read the thread on carrying spare tubulars, but this question didn’t seem to be addressed in detail.
Lots of people do different things here. Here’s how I do it:
My rims and spare tubbie are lightly pre-glued. I use the Tufo tape to put the race tires on. When I flat the tape will come off with the tire. The pre-glued rim with the pre-glued spare will be enough to get you to T2.
…I took off tyres with Tufo tape and tape stayed on the rim in sections…nearly impossible to take off…now, if I had that Goo off stuff you have in the USA it would have been different I guess…I have glued my tyres as the glue seems more practical because of this I mentioned before…
