Changing cleats on the same old shoes

Say you’re happy with your 2-year old bike shoes, but it’s time to change your cleats. How likely is it that shoes will be up to it? Do the threaded holes in the shoes typically stay in decent enough shape to accept and securely hold a new set of cleats? Would it be any different if the cleats were a different system (even if they use the same cleat hole pattern)? Let’s hear your experiences with changing cleats on the same shoes.

They should be fine. If your old cleats have been securely on there for two years there is no reason the threads will have any issues. I probably change my cleats every 6 months, so I do multiple cleat changes on the same shoes.
