Love to see what the new year brings with the “what are they riding now” posts. Should be interesting to see what Specialized is up to. Not renewing Jordan Rapp, Angela Naeth, Jan Frodeno, and I know Jesse Thomas mentioned they were in negotiations…what’s next?
Those are some players in the game, so will be interesting to see what this represents for their tri focus, and where these very good riders and triathletes end up…
And don’t forget that someone (engineering dept.) Left from cannondale and went to specialized. I sure hope that is a good move. I feel like specialized bikes are superior, hope that was a wise move, especially when they could have gotten damon from cervelo.

On that note, I believe Damon went to Cannondale around the same time Peter Denk went from Cannondale to Specialized. I think.
You have to put him at the very front next year. Flat plus a penalty, still learning the LD sport. You have pretty good odds at having another IMWC on your bike next year if you have him.
sagan will bring more business than any tri rider.
I heard a fairly important industry person saying that revenue from tri bikes from age groupers and mid/high end road bikes being similar. I don’t know how closely this applies to Specialized and across the industry. Is there an industry report that you can download that breaks down overall units, ASPs and revenues between tri, road, mountain bikes, rec bikes, touring bikes etc etc. This would be interesting to see. I found the report below, but it does not get into tri…I assume tri is in the general “road” category:
Are specialized bikes any good? maybe people don’t buy them because they don’t particularly like the bikes
I looked at specialized as I have a specialized concept store very close to me, but I have to admit, I always check there first and never buy anything.
I bought a cervelo P3 instead of a shiv because I didn’t like the feel of the shiv. I haven’t been impressed with any of their shorts, helmets, shoes, etc either
Maybe triathletes are a little more savvy that the average mass market road cyclist, we select the bike thats right for us, not the one some pro is riding
