Chain question for bike experts

i dug out one of my new, unused but somewhat older sedisport bike chains out of one of my bike boxes.

so if it is a 1/2" x 3/32" derailleur bicycle chain, what rear cog set-up is that compatible to?

5-speed, 6-speed, 7-speed, 8-speed, or some combination of them?

so you pretty sure it will work for 8 as well? i thought the eight speed was a narrower chain…
