I just got a call from my LBS, my chain needs replacing. The bike is all Dura-ace, they only have SRAM 1090 chains in stock. I can run out and get my own Dura ace chain (for less money) or let them put on the SRAM chain. Any opinions?
SRAM 1090 is a good chain, and for me has worked better than DA.
I’ve had good luck with the Wippermann 10S0, not so much with the 10X1 due to interactions between Simple Green and the stainless…
no problem mixing dura and sram?
“no problem mixing dura and sram”
None at all, at least with my 9 sp.

No problem at all. All chain link lengths are the same for all brands. Width is an issue, but typically all 10 spd is the same width, all 9 spd is the same width, etc.
The SRAM and Shimano cassettes are actually spaced the same, so even the cassettes are interchangeable between these two brands (not with Campy.) You can’t interchange the shift levers and derailleurs because the cable pull ratios are different, but chains are good to go. If you look closely some bike companies who spec some bikes with Shimano and some bikes with SRAM will do some mixing and matching of Shimano and SRAM in the cassettes and chains.
Just ordered a 1070 for my DA rig. I think I’ll like it due to the ease of the power link. I also got a wipperman connector link just in case my chain should break on the road one day. No tools, just slip it on.
