Despite a recent service and regular lubing, my drivetrain is very noisy and not shifting very well. I have had the chain since I bought the bike (November 05) and the the cassette too.
Should I replace just the chain or the cassette too? Thanks in advance.

Also, anyone noticed shifting problems with Soloist Carbons and their short chainstays?

A shop can check the chain wear with a chain gage and let you know if this may be the problem.
If you do replace the chain, get a Wipperman or a SRAM. They are way cheaper than a Campy chain, shift fine and do not require any tools (Campy chains need a Campy specific tool that costs $100) to install and you can use a standard chain tool to remove links.
The new Campy chains are excellent and do not require a special tool. You can change them just fine with the shop quality Park chain tool. If you’ve ridden for two years on the same chain, you probably trashed your cassette so will need to replace both, but Tri Yoda was right on when he said a shop could tell you.
Personally, I love the Campy Record chains and specified one on my wife’s Campy Centaur bike because they are noticeably smoother than any other chains I’ve tried. (Including Wipperman, old Campy, and Dura-Ace 8, 9 and 10 speed.)

Wippermans cost $35. How much are the new Campy chains? I love Campy, but just don’t think their chains are worth the money or hassle. Glad to see they finally got rid of the proprietary chain tool.
Record Ultra Narrow chains are $55 mail order. BTW, they do still recommend their proprietary tool in their manuals, but the big Park chain tool works just fine. You should seriously think about trying one again. I can’t say enough good things about them.
