CH Aero (the low budget disc) advice

I know the plastic CH Aero wheel covers, used to a rear wheel into disc, only work with some wheels.

Does anyone knows if it will work with my Mavic Kysrium? It has flat spokes with a non-standard spoke distribution.

I would appreciate help.

SBTG:
I don’t own one myself, but my understanding is that they work better on boxy rims such as the Mavic Open Pro. I don’t think the spokes would be a problem, but you ought to wait for cerveloguy to reply or pm him - he uses 'em.

You could contact CH-Aero and see. In any case if you were willing to work, you could probably get it to work by drilling different holes if that were necessary. You also might find it necessary to trim the entire edge of the cover since the rim depth is more than on the box rims. Someone on this board makes custom carbon fiber wheel covers so you could try him if you have any doubt.

contact wheelbuilder.com . they can cut the CH aero cover to fit any wheel.

I put mine on a bontrager aero wheel. I just cut the lip off all the way around with scissors. I didn’t bother with the screws. I just taped it on with electrical tape. It worked great. In fact the cover-rim transition is much cleaner this way.

I assume the tape was very easy to mount because there is so much rim area to tape to versus a box section rim? Just for those who don’t have one, if one does no cutting what soever, there is a bit of fiddling one has to do just tomake sure the cover is not contacting the brake pads at any point.

That’s right. I think it would be hard to tape it like I did on a box rim.

Does the CH aero cover work with Mavic Kysrium Elites?

sbtriguy & Spindogg,

Correct me if I am wrong, but from what I have observed of Mavic Ksyrium and and Ksyrium Elites wheels was that they were rather boxy type rims in the first place. They never struck me as much of an “aero” rim. Yes, they had bladed spokes, but the Ksyrium bladed aluminum spokes were as thick as a standard 14 gauge spoke or thicker for that matter.

I don’t think you should have any problem with a Mavic Ksyrium wheel and a CH Aero wheel cover

I just got my CH Aero cover from Wheelbuilder. They cut it to perfectly fit my Mavic Ksyrium wheels. Give them a call and talk to Rich S., he’ll hook you up. By the way, pay them the $10 to trim it for you, it will come out far better than trying to do it yourself.

Thanks BK. great advice. I’ll give 'em a call.
