CH Aero disc installation question

I am trying to install a set of CH aero wheel covers to an old Mavic semi-aero profile rim. I had to buy some shorter screw posts than the ones that came with the kit, but I still do not have a tight seal between the rim and covers. Would anyone recommend gluing the cover edges to the rim (not on the braking surface, but between it and the spoke holes on the tapering facet of the rim) to get a better, more aero seal? I recognize truing and reuse of the covers/rim would be problematic, but I feel a more secure attachment would be better.

You could try the $.99 black electric tape solution. Just be meticulous as you run the tape around the rim. It should touch the rim but not the brake area. If you do it carefully I’ve found it makes a decent seal but has to be replaced every now and then.

It also depends how aero the rims are. Andrew Coggan posted one time about how he trimmed the outer rim of the covers in order to get a good seal on an aero rim.

The CH Aero cover seem to fit some rims better than others. I have an old box style GL 330 Mavic tubular wheel that fits like a glove. So well in fact that the tape isn’t necessary.

There isn’t room for tape. The outer edge of the disc meets up with the inner edge of the braking surface.
