CH AERO cover

I got my CH aero cover and went to put it on for a race this weekend and it didn’t fit my rim (Ritchey Deep Section Pro), what rims have people used that it has been succesful on?
Thanks,

I just ordered a pair today for my mavic opens. I researched a bit and it seemed most said they fit best on box style rims. BTW, can you peel off that CH Aero lettering or is it silkscreened on?

They’re actually designed to work best with a box rim. Andy Coggan posted quite awhile ago that he used one with dish rim but had to trim it to fit. I use mine with a Mavic GL330 tubualr box rim. Fits perfect.

Once you get the cover on, how hard is it to take off, eg. to true the wheel?

Real simple to take on/off. It uses screw/ends mechanisms that go thru pre drilled holes. I put a small piece of black electrical tape over each of them to smooth it off. Takes a few minutes to take on or off.

Excellent, thanks - I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth getting a new wheel for the covers or just using my current Bontrager Race Light stock wheel. I guess if the covers fit OK on the Bontrager, I probably don’t need another wheel.

The only thing I forgot to mention is that you have to put the cassette on/off with the cover. Fast operation if you have the tool. Costs a few bucks.

JHC,

I have Bontrager Selects and the disk fits fine.

Thanks - how deep are the Select rims? My wheels are 22mm - not exactly deep but not a box rim either.

I believe it does work with a power tap hub. Pretty sure Andy Coggan posted using one with a CH Aero, but I’m not 100% sure.

It works fine with a PT hub. You will however need to cut a 2.875" dia. hole on the CH Aero cover to clear the PT battery cover. The hardest part is getting the cut concentric (centered) with the exiting hole.

Has any one tried this on an Open Pro rim?
